Mor-Sports Group Wins a 2026 ASBA Facility Award
We have some good news to share. Mor-Sports Group has won a 2026 Facility Award from the American Sports Builders Association (ASBA) for the courts we built at Regency at Babcock Ranch in Punta Gorda, Florida.
The award is in the Tennis and Pickleball Facility category. ASBA is the national association for companies that build athletic facilities, so this award is judged by other builders. They look at the things owners care about years later: layout, site work, drainage, base construction, the playing surface, and the details around the court.
Our project will be recognized at the ASBA Technical Meeting in December, during the division meetings on Thursday, December 3.
About the project
Regency at Babcock Ranch is Toll Brothers' gated 55+ community inside the Babcock Ranch master plan. The courts sit next to the community's Veranda Amenity Center, which opened in early 2025. Residents play tennis, pickleball, bocce and shuffleboard there.
Our crews did the whole job themselves, start to finish:
- Survey, land clearing and earth removal
- Laser-graded lime rock base, built to ASBA grades and slopes
- Laser-paved hot asphalt base
- Cushion system, acrylic color coating and line work
- Fencing, lighting and court accessories
That is the part players never see, and it is the part that decides how a court holds up. A flat surface with the right slope drains a Southwest Florida downpour instead of holding water at the baseline. A base built to tolerance plays the same in every corner. Get those wrong and no color coat can fix it later.
Why it matters to us
We are not a broker. We do not hand the surfacing off to a subcontractor and hope it goes well. Every crew member is a Mor-Sports employee on our payroll, and we self-perform from the base to the last line. An award judged by other builders is a good sign that the model shows up in the finished court.
We have also built basketball, pickleball, tennis and bocce courts elsewhere in the Babcock Ranch master plan, so this community is one we know well.
