Root Barriers by Mor-Sports Group
Concrete is an amalgamated mixture composed of coarse granular material (aggregate) fixed in a hard matrix of material (cement) that fills the space among the aggregate particles and binds them together.
All of our concrete flatwork is installed by us "in-house" without the use of sub-contractors.
Mor-Sports also specialise in the installation of root barriers. These barriers, or physical underground walls are placed with the aim of ensuring that structures and plants share the same environment together without any ill effects to either party.Which type of root barrier should I have?
Root barriers can be solid objects, plastic membranes, sheets of material, zones of chemically treated soil (typically, the chemicals come in the form of pellets that are attached to a fabric) or any other barrier that keeps roots from growing into areas where they are not wanted. How is a concrete root barrier installed?
Normally, we mechanically trench down to allow us to pour and place a solid, physical barrier (concrete), in one continuous "pour" into the trench with the root barrier top finishing slightly above the ground.
We place the barrier around the structure, out from and parallel to the footings or the edge of the structure. Typically, the preferred method is placing the root barrier along beside the building, path, and road etc. so that roots cannot gain access to the structure. What are the advantages of a concrete root barrier?
